Product Description for Incoloy 800HT Round Bar
Incoloy 800HT Round Bar is made from UNS N08811, a nickel-iron-chromium alloy known in Europe as 1.4959 (X8NiCrAlTi32-21). It is supplied to ASTM B408 and, for pressure equipment, ASME SB408. INCOLOY is a trademark of Special Metals, and other mills sell the same grade as Alloy 800HT.
Alloy 800HT is the most tightly controlled member of the Alloy 800 family. It keeps the 30–35% nickel and 19–23% chromium of the base alloy, but narrows carbon to 0.06–0.10% and requires aluminium plus titanium of 0.85–1.20%. It is annealed at about 1149°C minimum to a grain size of ASTM 5 or coarser. The result is the most consistent creep and rupture strength in the family, especially above about 700°C.
The alloy resists oxidation, carburisation and nitriding in hot furnace gases and stays austenitic and non-magnetic. Bars are supplied solution annealed, hot or cold finished, and can be turned, peeled or ground.
Refineries and petrochemical plants use 800HT for steam methane reformer outlet systems, pigtails, manifolds, ethylene cracker parts and hot-gas fittings, where years of creep life are needed at temperatures that would overload stainless steels. Most 800HT heats also meet 800H limits, so dual-certified bar is common and simplifies stock control for plants that use both grades. Because creep strength depends on both chemistry and grain size, the certificate matters more for 800HT than for most alloys. Buyers should check carbon, the aluminium plus titanium total, annealing temperature and grain size on every certificate before parts go into service. Bars can be cut to length and marked with heat numbers for traceability.
Common Applications of Incoloy 800HT Round Bar
➡️ Machined shafts, spindles, valve stems, pump sleeves and pins for food, beverage, dairy and pharmaceutical equipment, where the passive chromium oxide film resists both product acids and caustic clean-in-place chemicals.
➡️ Fasteners, studs, bolts, threaded rod and anchor components produced from bar stock, chosen for corrosion resistance combined with the ductility needed for cold heading and thread rolling.
➡️ Chemical, water treatment and general process plant parts such as agitator shafts, flange blanks, nozzles and support components handling water, steam and mildly corrosive media free of significant chlorides.
➡️ Architectural and structural hardware including handrail stanchions, balustrade fittings, tension rods and bollards, where a bright ground or polished bar finish provides both appearance and low maintenance.

Technical Specifications
Get the key technical specifications for Incoloy 800HT Round Bar
Incoloy 800HT Round Bar is ordered as UNS N08811 to ASTM B408, with ASME SB408 used for code pressure parts. In Europe, the matching grade is 1.4959 to EN 10302 for creep-resisting steels and nickel alloys.
Acceptance rests on three checks that set 800HT apart from ordinary Alloy 800: carbon of 0.06–0.10%, combined aluminium plus titanium of 0.85–1.20%, and an annealed grain size of ASTM 5 or coarser after solution treatment at about 1149°C minimum. The certificate should show each of these, together with the actual annealing temperature.
Physical values in the table are reference data for thermal design. Bar tolerances follow ASTM B408. For critical reformer and cracker parts, buyers commonly add ultrasonic testing, positive material identification and third-party witnessing.
The main thing to check on an 800HT order is which documents govern aluminium and titanium. ASTM B408 lists each element at 0.15–0.60%, with the combined total at 0.85–1.20%. Some other specifications, such as ASTM A479 and producer data sheets, require each element to be at least 0.25%. If the bar will be used under several specifications, order to the tightest set of limits. The minimum annealing temperature for 800HT is also higher than for 800H, at about 1149°C, so the certificate should confirm the annealing temperature as well as the grain size. For European orders, the matching grade is 1.4959 to EN 10302.

Chemical Composition
View the chemical composition and applicable material limits for Alloy 800HT Round Bar
The chemistry table follows ASTM B408 for UNS N08811, including the combined aluminium plus titanium requirement that defines this grade.
Nickel at 30–35% makes the alloy fully austenitic and stable during long service, and it gives strong resistance to carburisation and chloride stress corrosion cracking. Chromium at 19–23% builds the protective oxide scale in hot air and process gases. Iron, at 39.5% minimum, makes up most of the balance and keeps the alloy cheaper than high-nickel grades. The narrower carbon range, 0.06–0.10% against 0.05–0.10% for 800H, removes the lowest-carbon heats that would give lower creep strength. The combined aluminium plus titanium of 0.85–1.20% is the key 800HT feature. These elements form fine gamma prime particles that slow down dislocation movement at high temperature, which raises rupture strength. Too little gives low creep strength, while too much can reduce ductility after long service, which is why both a minimum and a maximum are set.
Carbon at 0.06–0.10% forms carbides at grain boundaries during service, which pin the boundaries and resist creep. The narrower range removes low-carbon heats that would give weaker rupture life.
Aluminium and titanium are each limited to 0.15–0.60% in ASTM B408, but their total must be 0.85–1.20%. ASTM A479 and producer data sheets set each at 0.25% minimum, so buyers covering several specifications should order the tighter limits.

Mechanical Properties
Check the key mechanical properties and performance requirements of Alloy 800HT Round Bar
The tensile, yield and elongation values are ASTM B408 minimums for UNS N08811 in the solution annealed condition, together with the required grain size. The room-temperature minimums for 800HT in ASTM B408 are the same as for 800H: 450 MPa tensile strength, 170 MPa yield strength, 30% elongation and a grain size of ASTM 5 or coarser. The difference shows up in creep and rupture tests above about 700°C, where the controlled chemistry gives more consistent long-term strength. ASME code tables list 800H and 800HT together for many product forms, so designers should check whether the higher 800HT values are being used. Because of its coarse grain, 800HT should be bent and formed with care, and parts may need re-annealing after heavy cold work to restore creep properties.
These minimums, 450 MPa tensile strength, 170 MPa yield strength and 30% elongation with ASTM 5 or coarser grain, match 800H at room temperature. The coarse grain lowers room-temperature yield strength compared with standard Alloy 800.
The real design values are creep and rupture strengths at service temperature, taken from ASME code tables or producer data. Long exposure at about 540–760°C can reduce room-temperature ductility, which should be allowed for when old parts are repaired.
