Product Description for Titanium Grade 11 Round Bar
Titanium Grade 11 Round Bar is commercially pure titanium on a Grade 1 base, with 0.12–0.25% palladium. It carries UNS number R52250 and material number 3.7225, and bar is supplied to ASTM B348, with ASME SB348 for pressure parts.
Using Grade 1 as the base gives lower oxygen and iron than Grade 7, so the metal is softer and stretches further before it breaks. The palladium is at the same level as Grade 7, so the protection in dilute reducing acids and hot chloride crevices is the same.
Bars come annealed and are non-magnetic. Grade 11 is the softest and most formable of the palladium titanium grades. It is chosen for parts that are heavily cold formed, deep drawn or used as linings and clad layers, where the extra ductility of the Grade 1 base helps avoid cracking. It gives the same resistance to reducing acids and hot brine crevices as Grade 7. A lower-palladium version, Grade 17, is available for a lower cost where the corrosion margin allows. Common users are chemical plants that handle dilute hydrochloric or sulfuric acid, chlorate and chlorine dioxide units, and brine systems where crevices under gaskets are a risk. Bar is used for flanges, bolts, fittings and small shafts. Clad plate makers also use the Grade 1 base because it bonds and forms easily. Where the service allows a lower palladium content, Grade 17 can reduce cost. Bars are often supplied cut to length. Check stock before designing parts around it. Ground bar is available.
Common Applications of Titanium Grade 11 Round Bar
➡️ Machined shafts, spindles, valve stems, pump sleeves and pins for food, beverage, dairy and pharmaceutical equipment, where the passive chromium oxide film resists both product acids and caustic clean-in-place chemicals.
➡️ Fasteners, studs, bolts, threaded rod and anchor components produced from bar stock, chosen for corrosion resistance combined with the ductility needed for cold heading and thread rolling.
➡️ Chemical, water treatment and general process plant parts such as agitator shafts, flange blanks, nozzles and support components handling water, steam and mildly corrosive media free of significant chlorides.
➡️ Architectural and structural hardware including handrail stanchions, balustrade fittings, tension rods and bollards, where a bright ground or polished bar finish provides both appearance and low maintenance.

Titanium Grade 11 Round Bar is ordered as UNS R52250 to ASTM B348 in the annealed condition.
Grade 11 is annealed at about 650–760°C. Certificates should report palladium and all interstitials, plus tensile results and dimensions.
ASTM B348 and ASME SB348 cover Grade 11 bar in the annealed condition, and the ASME code allowable stresses are the same as for Grade 1 because the strength is the same. Bar is used mainly for fittings, fasteners and machined parts in equipment built from Grade 11 sheet, plate or clad plate, where matching material avoids galvanic and weld problems. Because Grade 11 is less common than Grade 7, bar stocks are limited, and buyers may be offered Grade 7 instead. Grade 7 is stronger but less ductile, so check with the designer before accepting a substitution.
Grade 11 bar is less common than Grade 7, so check stock early. Tolerances follow ASTM B348 tables. When bar is machined into fasteners, confirm that the low strength is acceptable for the joint design, because Grade 11 bolts carry less load than Grade 7 bolts of the same size.

View the chemical composition and applicable material limits for Ti Grade 11 Round Bar
The table shows the ASTM B348 limits for Grade 11. The interstitial limits match Grade 1: oxygen at 0.18% maximum and iron at 0.20% maximum. These are the lowest in the palladium grades and give the lowest strength and highest ductility. Palladium at 0.12–0.25% is the same as in Grade 7, so corrosion resistance in reducing acids and brine crevices is the same. Nitrogen, carbon and hydrogen are held at the same limits as other CP grades. Grade 17 uses the same Grade 1 base with lower palladium, about 0.04–0.08%, which reduces cost but also the safety margin in aggressive acids.
Any single residual in Grade 11 may not exceed 0.1%, and the total may not exceed 0.4%. The certificate should show palladium clearly, and XRF checks on received bar can confirm it, since Grade 11 looks the same as Grade 1 and Grade 2.
Keeping oxygen low is what gives the extra ductility, so heats near the top of the oxygen range will be slightly stronger and less formable. Titanium makes up the balance. Residual iron should also be checked.

Mechanical Properties
Check the key mechanical properties and performance requirements of Ti Grade 11 Round Bar
The table gives the ASTM B348 requirements for annealed Grade 11, including a yield strength range. ASTM B348 requires Grade 11 bar to reach tensile strength of at least 240 MPa, yield strength of 138–310 MPa, elongation of at least 24% and reduction of area of at least 30%. This is the same as Grade 1. The low yield strength and high elongation make Grade 11 easy to cold form, bend and flare, but it is not suited to parts that carry high loads. It keeps good toughness at low temperature. For higher strength with the same corrosion resistance, Grade 7 or Grade 24 can be considered.
Bend or flaring tests are sometimes added for parts that will be heavily formed, to prove the bar will not crack.
Bolts and studs in Grade 11 carry less load than Grade 7 bolts of the same size, so designers should check joint preload. Toughness at low temperature is excellent. Design loads should use the minimum yield. Elongation of 24% minimum allows tight bends and flares on fittings. Strength falls with temperature, so hot parts need derating.
